Bracelet - Maria Magdalena & Sapphire Bracelet - 18mm - 18K Gold Vermeil

This vintage Saint Mary Magdalene Medal with her famous long hair captures her holding her alabaster jar. I have recast it in sterling silver and then plated in 18K gold, which is 18K gold vermeil. The writing on the front is "SANCTA MARIA MAGDALENA." The medal measures 18mm in diameter. The vintage medal is attached to unique Parisian chain with a wire-wrapped sapphire stone.
SAPPHIRE is the most precious and valuable blue gemstone. It is a very desirable gemstone due to its excellent color, hardness, durability, and luster. The only gem harder than sapphire is a diamond.
ALABASTER JAR OF ANOINTING OIL - Mary Magdalene anointed Jesus two times:
The first time was in the house of the Pharisee where Jesus was dining. She brought with her an alabaster box of ointment. Kneeling down she began to wash Jesus' feet with tears and dry them with her hair and kiss his feet and anoint them with the precious ointment. You can find this story in the Gospel of Luke 7:36-50.
The second time was in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper where Jesus was at table. Again she brought her alabaster box of precious ointment. She poured it on Jesus' head. One of the disciples was indignant and believed it was a waste of the expensive oil. Jesus replied, "Amen I say to you, wherever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, what this woman has done to me shall be told in memory of her." Gospel of Matthew 26:6-13
