This French blue glass rosary also serves as a necklace with the clasp in the middle of the third decade of Hail Marys. The French crucifix is sterling silver with beautiful detail of hearts and flowers. The Crown of Thorns center is also sterling silver as well as the fish symbol with the Holy Spirit dove symbol in the middle. This would make a lovely gift for a confirmation.

To give you an idea of the size of the rosary, from the bottom of the cross to the middle of the third decade of Hail Marys measures 15.5 inches.

CHRISTIAN FISH SYMBOL
The fish, unlike the cross, attracted little suspicion, making it a perfect secret symbol for persecuted believers. When threatened by Romans in the first centuries after Christ, Christians used the fish mark meeting places and tombs, or to distinguish friends from foes. According to one ancient story, when a Christian met a stranger in the road, the Christian sometimes drew one arc of the simple fish outline in the dirt. If the stranger drew the other arc, both believers knew they were in good company.

HOLY SPIRIT DOVE SYMBOL
All four Gospel accounts refer to the baptism of Jesus by John at the Jordan River (Matthew 3:16; Mark 1:10; Luke 3:22; John 1:32). Luke says, “And the Holy Spirit came down in a bodily shape, like a dove on Him.” Because the Holy Spirit is just that—spirit—He is not visible to us. On this occasion, however, the Spirit took on a visible appearance and was doubtless seen by the people. The dove is an emblem of purity and harmlessness (Matthew 10:16), and the form of the dove at Jesus’ baptism signified that the Spirit with which Jesus was endowed was one of holiness and innocence.
